End of Semester?!?!

I can't believe we are already at the end of the first semester!  I have had so much fun getting to know your children over these last couple of months.  I thought it might be fun to have a short snack time next week in honor of their hard work this semester.  Would a few moms be willing to send in some things to share with the class?  Maybe some juice boxes, a salty snack (like popcorn, goldfish or some other cracker), a sweet snack, and /or some fruit (just to keep it healthy:).  Just email me and let me know what you can bring (rhondamlin@aol.com).

Also, we spent our presentation time this week reviewing all of the skills we have learned this semester.  They took turns drawing the various skills out of a basket.  They then explained the skill and showed us a good example and a bad example of that skill.  They did a great job and I look forward to their final presentation this semester where they will try to put it all together and use the skills we have learned.  They can do their presentation on any topic they choose.

See you all next week!

Week 9

Happy Monday!
We had a great time with the crayfish last week...maybe some future doctors on our hands!  This week we will continue the fun with owl pellet dissections.  We discussed adding the skills of inflection and persuasiveness to our presentations last week.  Tomorrow your students should come prepared with a presentation that persuades the audience to believe in something or to "buy" something (props are welcomed).  Remember to put those tin whistles in their backpacks for more music theory and practice in fine arts.  See you tomorrow!

Week 8

I just love this time of year with all of the beautiful colors of the trees - what a creative God we have!  We were able to get out and enjoy His creation for science this week and had a great time on our Nature Walk!  The kids enjoyed identifying and collecting leaf samples and labeling the trees we saw as either deciduous or coniferous.  Tin whistle is going well as we learn some music theory together (I have no previous musical experience:) and practice playing.  Please make sure your child has their tin whistle each week, until we break in November, so they can practice with us.  We have sure missed Charlotte the last couple of weeks - please pray for little Frances who has been sick.  I hope you all have a great weekend.

Happy Friday!

Hi Moms,
I hope you all are having a great week and enjoying the beautiful weather.  I am just posting a quick reminder about presentations.  Please prepare a presentation this week with your child focusing on eye contact.
The topic for this week is telling the child's personal history(where they were born,
where their family is from, places they have lived , etc.), or a piece of memory work that
they know well. Please choose something that your child will be comfortable talking about.
You may choose another topic that your child is comfortable with. These topics are just suggestions.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Sorry for the late post this week.  Our family left Tuesday right after CC to go out of town for a few days.  We had a great class last week, but missed Levi.  I must say that your kids are all little sponges!  They are picking up the information so quickly...which makes our review time very fun.  Everyone did a great job on their presentation.  This week you do not need to prepare one; we will focus on the skill of eye contact in class.  Hope you all have a great weekend and can make it to the CC cookout on Sunday.

First Day

Wow!  What a great first day!  I hope you enjoyed spending our morning together as much as I did.  Thank you moms for all your help, especially during Science.  Just a reminder that your student should come prepared to share a brief presentation next week on one of the following topics:
*  one of the ten commandments
*  favorite:  toy, book, movie, food, Bible character, Bible verse
*  summer vacation
When you prepare and practice at home, remember to emphasize using the 3 second rule and to include a clear introduction and conclusion.

I hope you all have a great week.  Please contact me if you have any questions.
